Rest and Be Thankful is set in Scotland and involves 13-year-old Katy, her wacky aunt, and estranged mother who are taking a road trip from Glasgow to the Highlands. The aunt and mother are hiding a secret, but all Katy knows is that spending time in Scotland is a lot weirder than being home with her dad in North Carolina. Her aunt has a gruff, ape-like boyfriend named James, who seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth, and her mother has never Katy in the States and shows no signs of changing. Events turn deadly as the trio faces a Norman Bates-type character who collects dolls, a stalker in a mysterious red car, and a kidnapping.

Rocky Road
is a collection of four short stories, all set in the South. The
characters include an angry snapping turtle named Rocky, a
mother and cross-dressing son who like to frequent psychic
fairs, and a doctor who
has changed his (or her) appearance
dramatically since the last checkup.
The characters face the usual hardships in life -- failed
marriages, unwanted pregnancies, and children who've
disappointed them -- but it's how they deal with those problems
that make them unique.
